How to resolve update-binfmts: warning: current package is oracle-java8, but binary format already installed by openjdk-7

I earlier had Oracle Java 7 installed on my Linux box. I upgraded to Oracle Java 8 as follows (below commands to be typed in a terminal window): $ sudo apt-get purge oracle-java7-installer <enter> $ sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer <enter>

Download the RPM for the 64 bit version from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Install Sun Java on Fedora 15

You can install Java from http://www.java.com on your Fedora 15 desktop. Follow the steps given below: Remove the default openjdk from your Fedora 15 installation.

Download file jdk-6u26-linux-x64-rpm.bin from http://www.java.com for Fedora 64 bit.

# chmod u+x jdk-6u26-linux-x64-rpm.bin <enter> # ./jdk-6u26-linux-x64-rpm.bin <enter>

This will install all the rpm files.
