How to put phone into USB Debugging mode from Developer Options

First enable Developer Options.

On the phone, select Settings -> About Phones -> Developer Options. Locate an option named Android debugging and change the toggle to On.

The phone will now be in USB Debugging mode.

Phone not detected with adb in the VirtualBox Ubuntu guest

If you create a Linux Virtual Machine using VirtualBox, then you will find that when an Android Phone is connected to the computer via USB port, it will not be detected in the Linux virtual machine.

How to connect Android phone in developer mode and use adb

After enabling developer options on the phone, connect the USB cable that came with the phone to the computer.

Start adb shell as follows: $ cd android-sdks/platform-tools <enter> $ ./adb shell <enter>

Within the shell, you can execute several commands.

List all installed packages using the adb in android-platform-tools pm list packages <enter>

Android Development in Eclipse on Ubuntu 64 bit install error

When installing android development toolkit in Eclipse, you get following error: adb: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Fix above error is by installing the packages below $ sudo apt-get install lib32ncurses5 lib32stdc++6 lib32z1 lib32z1-dev <enter>

Start eclipse and it should work now.
